Communion Cakes and Christening Cakes
The Communion season spans a very short period between April to July.
Communion cakes are usually based around a traditional appearance, although during the past 5 seasons there has been a marked increase in clients requesting the more simple yet elegant design, the most popular is having a combination of everything being coloured white with a delicate shimmer usually on the wording.
A more recent trend is incorporating a wired explosion or topper along with a figurine boy or girl. The explosion can be the challis and host, or a cross, all made from sugarpaste, and the favourites are finished off with white feathers. The open book, boy or girl on a plaque kneeling and embossed cross are also all handmade from sugarpaste.
These wired toppers, plaques and books are not purchased and are all produced by hand, these are something I started a few years ago and are still unique to CakesCrazy.
Christening cakes take all forms of shape, from traditional to novelty, with toppers or wired explosions.
The most common decorative toppings are booties,r teddy bear’s or toy box.
The most decorative are those which feature pastel colours.
